The interpretation of individual self is the essential starting point for the probe into the theoretical compatibility of traditional Confucianism with modern democratic theories. After a deep reflection to the interpretation of individual self, this article argues that the traditional Confucianism shares many common interpretations of Individual Self with Democratic Theories of Pragmatism and Communitarianism from the following four dimensions of Time,Space,Status and Role.Meanwhile, this article holds that these common interpretations can further supply some vital disadvantage-overcoming possibility and theoretical improvements to the Liberal Contractual Democratic Theory.
