Abstract
Tris(2,2'-bipyridine) ruthenium(H) [Ru(bpy)(3)(2+)] was oxidized to its oxidated state, Ru(bpy)(3)(3+), on a glassy carbon electrode at the potential of +1.50 V (vs. Ag/AgCl). Electrochemiluminescence (ECL) was caused by the reaction between Ru(bpy)(3)(2+) and hydroxyl radical, OH center dot, generating the excited state of Ru(bpy)(3)(2+)*. The effects of 15 kinds of metal ions on the Ru(bpy)(3)(2+) ECL were studied.
