Preparation of novel tetra-substituted carboxyl aluminum phthalocyanine-silica fluorescent nanoparticles and application to acidity measurements

Novel fluorescent nanoparticles, entrapping water-soluble red-region fluorescent dye of tetra-substituted carboxyl aluminum phthalocyanine AlC4Pc), have been synthesized and characterized. Adding an appropriate. amount of AlC4Pc and concentrated ammonia water into the microemulsions prepared by mixing 1.00 mL of Triton X-100; 12. 30 mL of cyclohexane, 1. 04 mL of n-hexanol to form the reverse micelle, after stirring for 10 min the mixture was then added tetraethoxysilane; 'vigorously stirring to impel tetraethoxysilane diffused into the nanoreactor. Under the catalysis of ammonia., tetraethoxysilane hydrolysed and polymerized to form the silica nanoparticles. These nanoparticles had unique advantages of high fluorescence 'good photost ability, and biocompatibility. The possibility of using the fluorescent nanoparticles as new fluorescent indicator for pH determination was also investigated. It was found that the fluorescence nanoparticles are pH sensible and the pH response range is between 5. 02, and 11. 98. The proposed method has been successfully applied to the determination the pH of running water and simulating biologic system. The method promises to be used to in-vivo, rate-time determination of H+ in cell.
