The Worship and Discrimination of the Imperial Examination and Transmission of Literature in the Song Dynasty
【Abstract】The worship for a scholar's fame from the imperial examination and the transmission of his works had interne relations among themselves in the Song dynasty. On the one hand, the works of someone who obtained a distinction in the examination spread far and wide in that special historical background. The transmission of his works had three characters as timeless, attached and vigorous. On the other hand, the works of scholars in the bottom of the examination system, for instance, Zhuke or a Jinshi from court's largess, were little known unless they were recommended by famous people of the lime . In addition, the number of their extant works were rather small though the group was huge as they were regarded as mere amateurs . The relationship of them is a typical case that the non-literary factors interfere with literature.
