An Approach to Probe Solid Electrolyte Interface on Si Anode by P-31 MAS NMR

Solid electrolyte interface (SEI) is considered as one of the most important factors determining the electrochemical performance of lithium-ion batteries. Here we introduce P-31 nucleus as a probe to detect the formation and composition of SEI on Si anode. Through detecting the phosphorus compound forming on the Si anode by P-31 NMR, a decomposition mechanism of the new addives is proposed. (C) 2013 The Electrochemical Society. All rights reserved.
