On Individual Memory and Recovery of Taiwan：Some Views on Individual Memory and Collective Memory

Personal diary, autobiography, memoirs and oral history — the important carriers of individual memory, are useful supplements to archives and newspapers, from which we could gain a better understanding of the details received on the recovery of Taiwan. In fact, the overwhelming majority of Japanese people felt excitement over the defeat of Japan while only some of them disappointed. Meanwhile,Taiwan people expressed their understanding and tolerance to the army of R.O.C. And there were two opposite kinds of ＂individual memory＂ on the so-called faucet event after the recovery of Taiwan. On the other hand,as the witnesses, bystanders and the people who knew from mere hearsay had different degree of contact with information about the recovery of Taiwan, this led to the differences in their ＂individual memory＂,which,in one way or another, had enriched the ＂collective memory＂.
