A case study on the dynamic development of college students' learning motivation in the English classroom

本研究采用微变化研究法,动态考察了4名商务英语专业大学生的英语课堂学习动机发展特征及其影响因素。对研究数据的量化和质性分析结果显示:大学生英语课堂的学习动机呈现多样化动态变化,个体学习动机的动态变化具有一定规律性,学习动机变化受学生自身英语水平、课堂学习内容、教师语音语调及智能手机等因素的影响。研究结果对大学英语课堂教学具有启示作用。Using the microgenetic method, this study probes into the dynamic characteristics of in-class English learning motivation of 4 business English major students. The quantitative and qualitative analyses of the data show that in-class English learning motivation of the students is in a diversified dynamic changing state, the change of individual learning motivation follows a regular pattern, and learning motivation is influenced by the major factors including the students＇ English proficiency, teaching contents, teachers＇ pronunciation and intonation, and smart phones. The study is of some implications for English classroom teaching in universities and colleges.
