During the Eastern Zhou period, the self-indication inscriptions became more diverse against the backdrop of the prosperity of local dialects. Besides, the ritual reform in the society further led to remarkable changes in the development of bronze functions. The synthetic effect of these factors eventually contributed to the appearance of various new characters of the bronze naming system during the Eastern Zhou period. Based on the study of prefixes of bronze names in inscriptions, this article explores the distribution and functional changes of bronzes with inscriptions such as ＇si＇, fen＇, and ＇shah＇ with an aim to understand the diachronic transformation of naming system in the Zhou period.
