Three Patterns of Cultural Blending Between China and the United States
Abstract
文章从多元文化理论出发,深入比较了美国作家赛珍珠、旅美作家兼学者林语堂和美国华裔女作家汤亭亭的创作生涯,评析他们所处的文化语境、身份差异和代表作的特色等,指出他们所代表的中美文化交融的三种不同模式,这些模式涉及美国主流文化和少数族裔文化,影响了美国多元文化的发展. Using multiculturalism, this article compares the lives and careers of Pearl S. Buck, Lin Yutang, and Maxine Hong Kingston, exploring their cultural contexts, identity differences, and representative works. They represent three patterns of cultural blending between China and the United States, involving the dominant culture and the minority culture. Thus, the three patterns have impacted the development of multiculturalism in the U.S.
