In November 2007 through January 2012, coring tests and excavations were conducted to the Caoxie Village in Hepu County, which recovered city wall, moat, long corridor, pavilion, workshop pits, operation pits, water wells and other remains, and unearthed large amounts of pottery architectural components and utensils for daily use, and some artifacts made of stone, bronze and iron. The handicraft workshop remains provided important materials for the studies on the southward diffusion of the roof tile-making techniques of the Central Plains and the officialrun handicraft system of the Han Dynasty, and the confirmation of the harbor at Caoxie Village is also significantly meaningful for the promotion of the studies on the maritime Silk Road in the Han Dynasty.
