A Study of the Ancient Greek Origins of Hōlderlin's poetics
【Abstract】 Ancient Greece has been known as the first and most important background of Holderlin's poetics. Starting from Holderlin's early texts，French contemporary philosopher Pierre Bertaux studied his point of view of classical poetics that modern poetry should imitate the ancient Greek poetry in many ways. However，Bertaux did not talk about the insurmountable limit and the modern tendency of surpassing the classicism of this imitation-I believe that this tendency is to be seen mainly in the late Holderlin's discussion of “the quarrel between the ancient and the modern” and his interpretation of the Greek tragedy，highlighted by the French contemporary scholar Philippe Lacoue-Labarthe and Francoise Dastur. On the basis of Holderlin's original texts，and by synthesizing the research of scholars such as Bertaux，Lacoue-Labarthe and Dastur， this paper systematically analyzes the influence of the ancient Greek studies of Holderlin upon his poetics，his reception of the ancient Greek poetics and art，and his further reflections on the latter，from themes such as the poet and the city，the brevity，publicity，thinking of the poetry and the limit of imitation of the Greek art by the modern one.
