The author, based on the latest metaphor theory advanced by M.A.K Halliday and G. Matthiessen, probes into the evidence for formation of grammatical metaphor, proposes the occurrence of grammatical metaphor resulted from experience reconstruction and makes a comparative study of grammatical metaphor types in both Chinese and Chinese scientific languages before proving that the grammatical metaphor in Chinese and English languages is not only agreeable in types but also strikingly similar in function. They are packaged or compressed by downgrade so as to make secondary unit play the same semantic function as a upper unit. As a result, scientific language appears more technical, abstract, objective and concise. Grammatical metaphor is an inseparable tool for scientific language to show its category feature.
