The cross-strait institutional economic integration to a certain extent currently holds its economic prerequisites, such as economic interdependence, market scale, economy and technology development level, and policy coordination capability, to realize expectant economic effects. But the integration should be pushed step by step because of the existing differences between the two economies across Taiwan straits. Currently, if possible, it could be initiated with late-model free trade area, which includes investment conveniences and free trade, not only in goods but also in services, to meet the needs of deepening of economic globalization.
