One new species of Tergestia from Taiwan Strait

厦门颈褶吸虫 ,新种Tergestiaxiamenensissp .nov .发现于鲈鱼Lateolabraxjaponicus靠近肛门处的肠道 .它与本属较相似的种有尖颈褶吸虫T .acutaManter,1 947和Manter ( 1 947)所报道的T .pectinata (Linton ,1 90 5) .与尖颈褶吸虫相似的地方在于它们都具有 1 4枚围口叶 ,但后者虫体尾部较窄、子宫伸入到睾丸与体末端之间、虫卵较小 ( 0 .0 1 7～ 0 .0 1 9× 0 .0 0 9～ 0 .0 1 0 ) ;与T .pectinata的相似点在于子宫都不进入睾丸与体末端的空间 ,但后者的围口叶为 1 3枚 .The paper deals with a new species of Tergestia Stossich, 1899 (Digenea: Fellodistomidae)obtained from the intestine of Lateolabrax japonicus (Cuvier et Valenciennes). Type specimens are deposited in Parasitology Research Laboratory, School of Life Sciences, Xiamen University. Measurements are given in millimeters, as the ranges followed by the mean in parentheses, unless otherwise stated. Tergestia xiamenensis sp.nov. (Plate Ⅰ) Type host: Lateolabrax japonicus (Cuvier et Valenciennes). Site of infection:Large intestine. Type locality:Xiamen(24°25′24″～33′14″N,118°03′58″～11′48″E), Fujian, China. Date: June, 17, 2000. Prevalence:5 specimens from 1 of 9 hosts. Description: (based on 5 mounted specimens) Body elongated , 1.50～1.90×0.40～0.46 (1.69×0.43). Oral sucker conical, 0.168～0.188×0.144～0.160 (0.179×0.154), with 14 lobes around the oral sucker. Acetabulum 0.300～0.324×0.272～0.308 (0.309×0.294), situated at the junction of anterior and middle third of body. Sucker ratio 1∶1.67～1.89 (1∶1.81). Pharynx cylindrical or barrel shaped, strongly muscular, 0.154～0.164×0.082～0.100( 0.157 ×0.094). Esophargus 0.424～0.560 (0.517) long. Intestinal bifurcation posterior to acetabulum. Ceca long, extending to near posterior extremity. Testes slightly oblique, near posterior extremity, anterior testis 0.154～0.200×0.086～ 0.116 (0.166×0.101);posterior one 0.156～0.220×0.080～0.104 (0.182×0.100). Seminal vesicle tubular, 0.272～0.312×0.040～0.048 (0.290×0.044). Cirrus pouch ellipticarl, 0.142 ～0.172×0.106～0.160 (0.156×0.125), containing well developed pars prostatic and prostatic cells. Genital pore anterosinistral to acetabulum. Ovary elliptical, 0.142～0.176×0.062～0.090 (0.160×0.075), at anterior part of posterior third of body, to right of midline. Uterus distributing between the junction of testes and acetabulum. Vitellaria follicular, small, extending laterally from posterior level of acetabulum to the junction of testes. Eggs oval, numerous, operculated, embryonated, 0.018～0.024×0.014～ 0.016 (0.021×0.015). Excretory vesicle not observed. Disccusion: Tergestia Stossich, 1899 and Theledera Linton, 1910 have been accepted by author such as Bray and Gibson (1980), Nahhas, Sey and Nishimoto (1998). 8 species were included in Tergestia Stossich, 1899 viz. T. laticollis (Rud., 1819) Stossich, 1899 (type species) T. acanthogibii Yamaguti, 1938; T. acuta Manter, 1947; T. atropi Shen, 1990; T. agnostomi Manter, 1954; T. clonacantha Manter, 1963; T. pauca Freitas and Kohn, 1965 Syns. Tergestia mauritanica (Dollfus, 1973) Bray, 1984; T. manteri (Dollfus, 1973) Bray, 1984; T. pectinata (Linton, 1905) of Hopkins (1940); T. pectinata (Linton, 1905) of Manter (1947); T. pectinata (Linton, 1905) of Siddiqi and Cable (1960); T. pectinata (Linton, 1905) of Nahhas and Cable (1964); T. pectinata (Linton, 1905) of Nahhas and Short (1965)[ synonym proposed by Nahhas, Sey and Nishimoto (1998)] ; T. priacanthi (MacCallum, 1917) Manter, 1940; The new species is most similar to T. acuta Manter, 1947 in having 14 lobes around the oral sucker, but differs from it in the body shape, in the uterus not extending into the posttesticular space and in eggs being larger. The new species resembles T. pectinata (Linton, 1905) of Manter (1947) in the uterus not extending into the posttesticular space, but is distinguished from it by the number of the oral lobes. The new species differs from the other known species of the genus in the number of the oral lobes and in the uterus distribution.
