A New species of parasitic nematode of locust: Hexamermis xiamenesis sp. nov

在厦门岛东南部花生地土壤及疣蝗 ( Trilophidia annulata)体内采集到一种六索线虫 ,研究发现与其它种有较大差异 ,命名为厦门六索线虫新虫 H examamis Xiamenensis sp.nov.并指出它的鉴别特征 .A species of mermithid nematode was found from the soil in Xiamen(24°25'N、118°06'E), Fujian province China. Its natural host is a kind of locust ( Trilophidia annulata ). By morphological studies and Comparison with other Closely related species. It is identified as a new species of the genus Hexamermis and named H. xiamenesis sp. nov. Adult body is elongate, its head shape is different in female and male, the head of female is cone shaped, but it is flat in male and slightly rounded. Cross fibers are present in cuticle, and there are six cephalic papillaes arranged in one plane, mouth opening terminant. The Amphid is pepper shaped, situated behind and dorsal to the lateral cephalic papillae. There are six hypodermal cords; the lateral cords contains 2 rows of nuclei in cross section, but other cords only one row of nuclei in cross section. Body length: ♀8.21(6.02~10.51)cm, ♂3.45(2.32~5.15)cm, Vulva located in middle region, Vagina J shaped, V %=51.25(42.68~55.53)%. Tail length of Male is 168.15( 158.82 ~171.30), number of genital papillae 59(53~71), arranged in six rows, the spicules are paired, length 164.45(158.83~181.20). Egg is round, and flat slightly, size 138.65( 133.25 ~140.35)×158.35(150.10~161.23). Type specimens holotype ♂, allotype ♀, paratypes are deposited in Biological College of Xiamen University, Xiamen Fujian, China.
