This article believes that all people of the chinese nation's descent and with chinese cultural characteristics who live outside China (including the Mainland, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau of China) belong to Huazu. Huazu is composed of three parts, namely Huaqiao(overseas Chinese) who still retain the Chinese citizenship, Huaren(Hua people) who are the previous Huaqiao but have got the foreign nationality and their offspring, and Huayi (ethnic Chinese) that means the offspring of Huaqiao or Huaren in a broad sense. It expounds the formation and development of Huazu according to the history, in particular, of massive Chinese emigrating abroad since the middle of 19th century, and strives to explain that the descent composition and the cultural traditions are the essential characteristics of Huazu.
