Nihilism in Modernity——On Nietzsche's Critique of Modernity

What is the most concerned in Nietzsche's critique of modernity is the "modern soul", which appears to be the decline of willpower, resulting in that the instinct takes over in overwhelming way. This "modern spirit" is sort of "nihilism" in nature, a self-devaluation of the supreme value,or indeed, a result of the explanation of life-value so far. Nietzsche attributes "nihilism" to the lack of "higher species" . He views reason as the force destroying the foundation of life and gives it a criticism in an attempt to find the "other of reason", i.e. the spirit of Bacchus of the art, and to provide, as a substitute of religion and reason, a shelter for individuals and the spirit of the time.
