dc.description.abstract军市是指在军队驻扎地或屯戍地临时设立的市场。
Military Markets were set up in the place where the troops were stationed. Special officers were appointed to run the markets. The major function of military markets was to provide military supplies or conduct exchange of commodities among soldiers and civilians. The tax revenue belonged to the army, but sometimes the imperial government would transfer it for other purposes. To certain extent the tax revenue of military markets supplemented and adjusted the economy, especially the military expenses. In ancient Chinese astrology there had been symbols of military markets, which were also the place to execute criminals.
