Martin Trow's Theory and Its Destiny in China

20世纪70年代,在对美欧等国家高等教育量与质分析的基础上,马丁·特罗提出了自己的高等教育发展阶段理论和发展模式理论。该理论的主要贡献在于其所体现的预警作用——当高等教育发展到一定阶段时,高等教育自身的方方面面都将发生变化,高等教育系统内外为此要做好充分的准备。由于各国高等教育大众化发展所面临的社会背景各有不同,因此,该理论对中国高等教育发展的借鉴意义仅在于其预警作用,而最终仍需要滋生于本土的理论来指导中国高等教育的发展。In 1970s, on the analysis of the quantity and quality of higher education in America and some European countries, Martin.Trow puts forward his stage theory and model theory of higher education development. The main contribution of the theory is its precautionary effect-when developing to certain stages, higher education itself would change in every aspect, and the inside and outside of higher education system should make full preparations for these changes. Because the social background each country faces at the time of mass higher education is different, what we can use for reference from the theory for China's higher education development only is its precautionary effect. And we need the native theory to guide our country's higher education development finally.
