Spectrophotometric determination of trace copper by suppression decolourization
Abstract
Copper has suppressed effect on the discoloured reaction resulted from hydrogen peroxide oxidizing ethyl violet; thus a highly sensitive method for determining trace copper was developed with the sensitivity of epsilon(590) - 1.5 x 10(6) L . mol(-1) . cm(-1) and the range of determination of 0 similar to 2.0 x 10(-2) mg/L Cu2+. The method has been applied to the determination of copper in water and human hair samples with satisfactory results.
