A Study of the Literary Elaboration of the Wushe Incident in Colonial Taiwan Since World War II
【Abstract】 In 1930, ethnic Taiwanese revolted against Japanese colonization in an uprising later came to be known as the “Wushe Incident”. Over the past seven decades, Japanese scholars have persisted in their literary elaboration of this particular incident. Judging from historical and cognitive perspectives, Japanese scholars' literary elaboration of the Wushe Incident exhibits an evolving attitude that has transformed from defense of colonialist discourse to criticism, from one-side description of a historic episode to the recounting of the historic context, and from monologues to dialogues with Taiwanese scholars.
