Progress in structural and functional study of nanometer protein shell of the ferritin
Abstract
Ferritins are ubiquitously distributed in organisms and take an important role in iron metabolism. In this paper, the subunit structure, heme electron tunnel, site of ferroxidase and trapping of various kinds of metal ions from the ferritin have been described. New development on structure and function of nanometer protein shell of ferritin is shown.
