Abstract

Using the National Land Classification System and based on Landsat TM satellite remote sensing image and the Tianjin Binhai New Area 1 ∶ 50 000 relief maps, three stages(2000,2005 and 2010) of land use/cover classification maps for Binhai New Area were drafted, and using the transition matrix of land use for nearly 10 years of land use/cover change in Tianjin Binhai New Area, the quantitative analysis was made.On this basis, the impacts of driving factors, such as economy and population on the land use/cover were further analyzed. The results showed that :over the ten years,in Binhai New Area, the construction land's area increased significantly, and the green land, wetland and beaches with high ecological value increasingly transformed into the construction land and unused land for development and construction, and it became more significant in later five years.
